Aso to Kagoshima, a 235 km journey, the longest and at the same time the last bike ride on mainland Japan.

Leaving Aso early in the morning, as soon the sun gave light, I knew to have a long day ahead of me. Temperature of below zero, the ice rubbed of the seat of my bike was prove to that, I did ride down the hill towards Kumamoto.

Owen wanted us to get there at sunset so that we get the classic photo of the setting sun glistening on the water- which we did. See photos. Lots of other tourists we all had to walk about 700m from the ferry to the viewing point, we walked beside a little stretch of sand. Every 3-4 metres or so there was ...

... excellent, great energy. Dinner time and it's Italian night so all the wait staff are dressed in striped tops and scarves. They look great. Our 2 boys, Jeffrey and Dom are both from the Philippines and are lovely. We have an early start tomorrow and the captain will have to go full speed ahead as we were 45 minutes late leaving Kagoshima because some passengers had not turned up to customs despite being paged over the PA system numerous times. Sayonara Japan and Anyonghaseyo ...
