... widać i słychać w telewizji nie oddaje nawet 10% tego, co dzieje się na torze. Dodatkowo czuć zapach rozgrzanych opon i spalin. Rewelacja!
We did the usual disembarkation and re-boarding to go through security in Nagoya. I threw the Japanese quarantine inspectors into a tizzy. I saw there was no line for the security checkpoint and didn't see them at the far end of where the line normally is, so I jumped the barrier and almost violated their quarantine. The decided I didn't have swine flu and let me through. I had only a few minutes between when I got to the gate and we started to board.
A restless night of strange furniture rearranging upstairs until 3AM, so I rolled out of bed exhausted way too early. And suffered the consequences trying to navigate the many, many private railways in Osaka (more on this to follow).
But I did manage to drop my bags off at the new hostel and catch the right trains to Ise-shi (Ise city) in Mie Prefecture, which is 2 leisurely hrs away by train from Osaka. The ...
... With beautiful scenery and Japanese bus games to keep us entertained it didn't take long for us to arrive at our first destination, an Ise subtemple. Though not quite as impressive as some of the other temples we had seen we were still happy to play the picture taking tourist and oooh and aaaah at appropriate times. The next stop was the real deal. Ise shrine is arguably Japan's most important shinto shrine and a ...
Ise, Kinki, Japan jossie... shrines. We went to Nagoya and I bought snacks for the month and had a teriyaki burger from McD's for dinner. I got home at around 10ish and the whole family was there. Kozue helped me figure out some of my cel phone problems and there was even some dinner left over for me and fruit! Yay. haha. I'm still not 100% healthy yet though.
Suzuka, Kinki, Japan shantiman... her parents a couple weeks before. That left us with just a few hours of organizing and boxing up things on Thursday and Friday. The one thing we didn't plan ahead so well on was getting rid of the things we didn't want to keep; we had talked about putting up an ad, but never got around to it until it was too late to bother. Then - mostly out of concern that we wouldn't be able to store anything - we hastily composed a last-minute notice on Wednesday to see if ...
Kariya, Japan xerius... belief in. That is merchandise. They had an infinite array of goods all sporting the small group of dodgy and hardly Spanish characters. They even had baby versions of these characters, and old fashioned black and white versions. I smell a Disney copyright lawsuit in the air. But my little fishing village was lovely, and being next to the ocean again was fantastic. I didnt realise how much I missed it.
Ise, Japan woundedsoldier... your country!' 'Only support Japanese owned shops, restaurants!' 'Gaijin (foreigners) get out! Japan is for the Japanese!' ...things like that, it was really freaky, I kinda felt like Hitler was driving down the street yelling crazy things through a speaker...needless to say I didn't want to draw more attention to myself than I already do by my looks alone, so I kept my camera in my bag and Katherine and I quickly ducked into a restaurant... Saturday night we wanted to ...
Osaka, Nagoya, Japan kateinjapan... temple, the largest wooden structure in the world. We also climbed Wakakusayama (great value for „110). That was so great. Dave and I were on a high. Or maybe it was because of the drink (Aquarius) we kept drinking. Whilst Mike kept walking, Dave and I kept getting held up doing Sound of Music impersonations and rolling down the steep hills. This being the ongoing trend for this trip - Mike miles in front, Dave miles ...
