... think the town of Beppu will be next. Beppu is the Onsen (hot springs) hot spot of Japan. I do have to say that having internet through a pocket wi-fi device makes a big difference in foreign travel. We are able to book our hotels and get information very easily. We had a very nice buffet breakfast at our hotel this morning. At 9 am Kumiko Asami arrived in front of the hotel in her little green Suzuki to pick us up and take us to the train station where we met Haruyo Handa and Kazuko Yamaguchi. Haruyo had arranged for us to spend a day going to nearby Yanagawa City and Dazaifu. We all purchased our tickets which included the return trip train ride, bus, and lunch. It must be said that Saga does not feature large on any tourist list that we have seen, certainly not in Lonely Planet. However, much to our surprise, we found it quite an interesting area.
However, it would seem that not many English speaking tourists go to Saga, and we found there was less English spoken here than anywhere else we have been. Despite all that, we seem to have learned how to find out what we want to know in relation to buses and timetables, and we ...

Anyway, I did pick up that our bus would not go directly to Saga and it would mean a transfer. We were hoping the transfer would take place at a bus terminal. Alas, that was not to be.
