Day 9: Kanazawa - Higashi Chaya and Kenrokuen
... list but hopefully the Gion district in Kyoto will help us with that. Although pretty small, the district was very beautiful. The very old 2 story buildings that lined the streets were well preserved. I believe they were initially constructed as restaurants for geishas to entertain guests. Most have now turned into souvenir stores, cafes or restaurants but all still looked incredible. It started to really pour and we were done with exploring the district pretty early but ...

A lot of the tree bracnhes were supported by wooden beams though which I consider cheating. We then had a guided tour of the nearby Kanazawa Castle although only the grounds were accessible. All the same it is quite ...
Kanazawa
The day started ominously with a late night toilet break only to find the bedroom door jammed shut. After a lot of rattling, and waking Aiden (he thought I was part of some weird nightmare) to doublecheck I wasn't being a complete numpty I had to call reception to get as out. It seems Room 2-0-8 sounds a lot like Room 2-0-2. Even with this inconvenience I had a much better nights sleep than the night before. We headed out for breakfast then ...
