    ... lived. It was a very beautiful ride up the lift, a beautiful walk up to the castle, and then from the top of the castle was a beautiful view of the city and mountains.
    Megan and I went shopping at the local grocery store called "Don Quixote's" and I took some picture of the Japanese foods they sell there... ...

    ... so nice, quiet, and calm here. The city is in the country side, which makes it all the more appealing to me!
    I have noticed that people here a lot more quieter and polite... and I feel like a loud mouth baboon talking and walking down the street!
    I get to rent a bike and shop around today! I am looking forward to seeing what the day ...

    ... We also stopped in at a pizza joint and darn was that olive oil good! The prosciutto was paper thin and translucent and the wood fueled pizza oven gave the dough a delicious smoky edge. I just finished lunch but the memory of it is making my mouth water!

    We are outside Gero city now where our host raises Hida beef cows while maintaining a few flower gardens, veggie gardens and is working on an eco building project. Updates coming soon!

    Slowly finding time to update my blog. Sunday was a slowish day, had a sleep in before heading to a World Culture Day event were I met Yuri, a nice Japanese girl who wanted to practice English with me and asked to be my friend. We've now sent a couple of emails but without Caitlin to translate, the conversation doesn't go far. Afterwards we went and ordered far too much Chinese but had yummy dumplings so it was all good.

    The Cat's Castle

    Many of the Japanese cities we visited had mascots, but this city's mascot was the best of all - a white cat wearing a Samurai helmet and red cape. No sword in sight though, so I am guess that this is a pacifist Samurai cat. (check out video).
