... was now time to go to the station. We said goodbye to Aliko and caught the thunderbird express to Kyoto, this took 2 1/2 hrs. We arrived at 4.40. Our hotel is across the road from the station. ... around 15 stories high with multiple floors of public space and a roof garden. On the way up the escalators there is a performance space with a vast lit seating staircase which was quite spectacular as was the view over the city from the top. We wandered through Isetan department store and were very happy to find redbush & peppermint teas (as we've run out). At the bus station there was a dancing fountain illuminated in lights.
