... ich, das Wakkanai auch eher ein kleines Dorf sein würde. Aber weit gefehlt: es ist eine recht grosse Stadt, die zwei Bahnhöfe benötigt. Einiges ist wohl auch dem Tourismus zu verdanken, denn Wakkanai ist ein prima Sprungbrett für Rishiri und Rebun, zwei Inseln vor der Küste und die russische Insel Sachalin.
