It is extremely hot today and very humid , it had rained again overnight and was raining this morning when we woke up. Back to the ferry, it's time to get back to the shuttle and the ship. While we are looking at the volcano from the ferry, there is a big puff of grey smoke that billows into the air. That must have been a big burp! Back on the ship we are required ...

Alex and I shared a sashimi box, and he had 2 skewers of chicken and 1 skewer of pork all by himself. I believe he’s going to pass the cruise ...

... as it joined up to the mainland in the 1914 eruption ( on the east side so it still looks like an island and you need to get a ferry to go to it from Kagoshima). It has 3 main peaks, the main one being Naka-dake at 1060 meters but only the south one (1040 meters) is active. Luckily for me climbing is prohibited!!!!! I was able to take it easy - do a leisurely bus ride to the lookout points and then a bike ride around part of the island. A nice afternoon.
