Mt. Unzen Fugendake erupted from 1990 to 1995. I was just a high shool student at the time, but I was concerned about people living around the mountain. In Shimabara, some damaged houses have been preserved intact after the disaster and Unzendake Disaster Memorial Museum has been offering information about the eruption with two great theatres.
