You're not paying for service, that's for sure A review of White Elephant
I stayed in two rooms here, one with a "harbor view" through two small windows and the other a suite with grease spots and primitive drawings (I suspect by a five year old with a marker) all over the couch. I covered it with a blanket.
The service here can be remarkably bad. They hire young foreign students, many of whom have no idea what they're doing. A bellhop watched as I trudged toward the hotel with my luggage, then followed me to my room hoping for a tip. A surly reservations clerk at the front desk never once cracked a smile the entire week I was there.
It's a shame really. This hotel is in a great location and the food in the restaurant is outstanding (the filet mignon was exceptional). The restaurant staff is also very friendly.
At these prices, I'll stay somewhere else in the future and simply have dinner here.
