You get more than what you paid for! A review of The Holland Hotel
We had a great stay, dont think can find anything better with this price! With our CAA discount, it was $66 per night and $90 on new years eve.
Made our reservation here because of the cheap rate and the postive online reviews I have read. Didn't expect much before I check-in, was actually afraid parking our car here for 4 nights as I have heard it is not a safe area. But I was totally wrong. Room was clean and spacious. With a microwave and fridge! Bathroom was superclean and bright, bed was comfy. Complimentary breakfast was not bad with quite a lot of selections, way better than what I have expected. Staffs were nice and helpful in terms of directions. Area appeared to be very safe, I thought only budget travellers would come to this place because of the cheap rate, but I actually spotted three Mercedez in the parking lot during my stay! There are alot of parking spaces as well. We asked for a room facing the parking lot, so I always peek out to check our car, never spotted any suspicious person. When you enter the lodge using the side door, you need your room key/card to enter. This place does not have fancy decorations (but managed to keep everything very clean and tidy), with a very small front desk area. The only thing I would complain is smoking is allowed in this small front desk area, made it very smelly. But our room (non-smoking) was totally fine. One time other guests were not being considerate and were chatting loud in the hallway, which really disturbed my sleep during late night, we complained and it has been solved right away! The other thing was on the morning we planned to check-out, the cleaning lady started to vacuum the hallway around 830am! This woke me up early. Other than that, I was very satisfied with our stay!
Walking to the PATH station (which takes you to World Trade Center or mid-town) is only 10-15 mins and costs only $1.50 per trip. It also runs 24/7! I know there is a mall right next by, but we didn't have time to check it out.
