Wow!!!!, the meadowbrook A review of Meadowbrook Inn & Suites
Our trip to the Meadowbrook Inn was really enjoyable. We stayed in one of the pool suites. It wa fabulous! There was a fireplace in the living room which was so cozy because it was snowing outside. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed with great feeling sheets which is always a plus! The jacusi tub was not only spacious but also had two shower heads, one for the front and another for the back. I'd never seen that before. The suite was decorated very tastefully and I saved the best for last........ we opened a door and walked down a spiraling staircase and there was our own exercise pool with ferns hanging from the ceiling and with concrete walls surrounding it. There were no windows so that you could swim without anyone looking. Another great feature of the hotel that was very unusual to me was an outside gazebo that actually had heaters in the top that would warm you as you were sitting inside. It was so romantic! The pool suites were in an annex building so it was a little difficult walking to the main building, but the snow made the inn look like a huge palace which helped the walk over be more enjoyable. Continental breakfast was served in the main buiding which included hot grits in a crock pot and biscuits and gravy. These foods are always a plus for a southern girl. The inn had a restaurant and a bar on site so there was no need to venture out at night for dinner. It serves Italian food in the evening which was very tasty especially on a cold snowy evening .There was a large heated pool inside the main building in which we enjoyed swimming laps and laying beside the pool in the lounge chairs and reading. My husband enjoyed the exercise room, but that was too much work for me. I'd rather get my exercise shopping. All of this was priced at $240.00 a night which my husband felt was a good deal. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The Inn is centrally located which makes it convenient walking to restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone who is visiting Blowing Rock. We are looking forward to our next trip there and staying at the Meadowbrook.
