Would not stay here again A review of Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre
Stayed here with a business group in March. Even before trip Hotel would not return calls regarding the details of rooms etc. They ignored written communication also. Also dinner was booked for our group on one night. The night before the one of the group went to clarify the numbers for dinner only to be told that they had no record of our booking for the restaurant!! When he produced a faxed confirmation of this booking they were still very reluctant to take the booking and suggest that we make alternative arrangements. After much persuasion we had our dinner on the night. The food was quite good and you could eat as much as you wanted. However when we went to settle bill they tried to overcharge and only conceded the correct price when the written confirmation of the price was shown again to them! The rooms I had was quite large and had a decent bathroom. The airconditioning was a godsend. Although at least 10 of the group was very disatisfied with air con. as it was not working in their rooms. The cleaning staff did a good job but would not leave much toilet rolls in bathrooms. In fact on day they actually took all the toilet rolls out of my room and did not replace them. When I asked the front desk for some they were very reluctant to give me any as they didn't believe me! On final day we all locked our luggage into the Lock-Up storage area of the hotel. Upon return to hotel one of our group's baggage had gone missing. To date it still has not been found - the only people who had access to this area was the staff. The breakfast looked promising but I found the scrambled egg not cooked properly and the sausages the bacon were terrible. All I could eat were the croissants. Phoning from this hotel is a complete rip off. I made 3 phone calls to Ireland each lasting approximately 3 minutes. It cost me almost 70 euro. All in all I would not stay here nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
