Worth a Visit A review of Applebutter Inn

A bright light shines at the Applebutter Inn in Woodstock, Vermont. Innkeepers, Barbara and Michael have kept this light going for the past 4 years. This wife and husband make a good team in the kitchen, breakfast room, and all through this home away from home. Their strength of service comes from the heart. It was a pleasure to sit on the side porch, and for our first afternoon tea enjoy Barbara's wonderful coconut chocolate chip cookies. The breakfast room was a large open space with 3 guest tables and big windows on 2 sides that made it possible for us to look out at the lovely garden. There were also a number of bird feeders which give guests the opportunity to eye one of God's colorful creatures stopping by for a snack. The breakfasts on the 2 mornings we spent there were feasts for the eyes and delights to the palette. They included fruit cups, with selections from the garden. Chef Michael's lemon souffle pancakes and blueberry pancakes were a great start to the morning. My parents bedroom, the Cameo Room, was a private retreat in back of the house. My room, the Jonathan Room, was at the top of the stairs in the main house. I enjoyed 2 restful evenings, and mornings waking up to the sound of the birds was a pleasure. Both bedrooms were clean, neat, and nicely decorated with antiques. Visiting Vermont, with its wide open spaces and interesting places, continues to be a pleasure for the 3 of us. This year being no exception. The hospitality, care, and commitment of Barbara and Michael was a blessing to remember. Sincerely, David White, Lowell, Massachusetts
