For the second time in two months I stayed at the University Place Hotel in Indianapolis, and this time, the room was worse. Carpets in the hall ways were dingy as all ways, but this time the carpet in the room had a few dirty spots. Wall paper was beginning to tear away at on some parts of the walls. The bed was so hard you might as well have slept on the floor. Yes, the staff is very friendly, the shuttle service terrific, in and out parking at $8 a day a good rate. But there's no pool or fitness center, and if you want to work out, you'll be charged $10 a head to use the university's facilities. In my book, this hotel falls in between terrible and just okay. This isn't, by any stretch, a 3 star hotel. I got it through Priceline, so beware Priceline user - this is probably the place the will come up if you request a 3 star hotel in downtown Indy.
