Worse than Holiday Inn!!! A review of InterContinental at Doral Miami
I stayed there 4 nights on October 6, 2004. The hotel service doesn't seem like a typical InertContinental Hotel at all, it's worse than a Holiday Inn. There were no bell captains to help my luggages during checking in or out, no valet parking, no services at all. I am really surprised how his hotel can be categorized to "InterContinental" as the service is worse than "Holiday Inn". They use cheap pillows in the room; the pillows are so thin and flat that even I put another pillow on top it, it didn't help much. The pool is very dirty with a lot of garbage, leafs, dead insects and dirt under the water. I didn't dare to swim there. Besides, I sent emails (the hotel's official email address: firstname.lastname@example.org) to this hotels 4-5 times 2 weeks before I checked in this hotel regarding changing the check-in date on my reservation, but they never replied my emails. They had never responded to my emails no matter how many times I sent. I had to call directly to the hotel more than 6 times from Hong Kong because they put my phone on hold for a long period of time (more than five minutes) even though they knew it was a long distance phone call from Hong Kong. I hanged up the phone again and again after I waited too long every time for more than 5 minutes, and then called again. The 3rd time I called, the same lady answered my call and asked me to talk directly to the hotel manager, so she transferred me to the Manager but nobody answered the phone, so I left a voice message to his answering machine, but he never called me back, so I called again and the same lady told me the manager Michael was on the meeting and asked me to call back half an hour. I did called back after half an hour and she told me the same. I called again, a guy called "Mike", he said he would take care of my request but with more expensive room rate than the original. I said it was fine for me. I spent so much money for the long distance call, just because they never replied my emails.
