Work in Progress A review of South Coast Winery Resort & Spa
We planned a trip to Temecula on January 16th to check out the new South Coast Winery Resort and Spa. Although the beautifully furnished rooms are ready for occupancy, most of the major amenities are not yet completed. We did, however, see a tremendous amount of work in progress. During our brief stay, we found the staff to be polite and responsive. However, front desk staff needs to do a better job promoting the resort and the wine country. Even though this was a pre-opening experience, it should have been a more positive one. Handing out a pre-printed directory of mediocre fast food establishments, rather than informing guests of the wonderful other alternatives in the immediate and surrounding area is an example. Also, I found it odd that there was no information regarding the resort or Temecula in our room. The continental breakfast needs improvement. Although the offering was adequate, it was not special. It was like what one receives at a motor inn. Perhaps when their restaurant is finished this will no longer be an issue. On the plus side, the manager of the property was very engaging. We were shown one of the Executive Villas, which was awesome! He also described the amenities that will be in place shortly. I believe that when completed, this will be a wonderful place to visit.
