Wonderful Valentines Day Weekend Stay A review of The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ritz for one night on the Sunday of Valentines' Day weekend. We had booked a bed and breakfast package, which was to include a "partial" ocean view room, and included the resort fee ($20) and the valet parking fee ($35), as well as two breakfast buffets (about $30 each). Upon arrival- we were greeted by someone at the door, who escorted us to the reservations desk. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Upon entering our room, I noticed that the partial ocean view really WAS partial. The room was gorgeous, but the view was of the golf cart roadway, and maybe about 2 inches of water in the distance over the golf course. No privacy. I had my boyfriend go and ask the front desk if there were any other rooms that might be better. They obliged and we got a room on the 6th floor, facing north, overlooking the firepit, the hot tub, the golf course and the beautiful ocean/cliffs. The windows open completely, so you can hear the waves crash. We left them open the entire time we stayed. We went to dinner in downtown Half Moon Bay, and the hotel provided free shuttle service in their own cars. They also came and picked us up when we were finished. I had a facial at the spa- not really worth the $$!
I've been to many other spas that were so much more luxurious, for half the price. But, if you need the relaxation, do a package, its not worth it for an hour treatment. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Little bit of a wait, but food was excellent. Overall, I think you definitely get what you pay for at the Ritz Half Moon Bay.
