Wonderful, quiet oasis away from the strip ... A review of The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
What a lovely hotel! Peaceful, elegant, tasteful, and fun. A great antidote and retreat from the chaos and noise of the Strip.
We stayed at this hotel for a long, hot weekend with our two young kids. The hotel is beautiful. The Moroccan theme is very well done and not over the top at all. The details - art work, tile, paintings, etc.
are all lovely. The room was a generous size - 2 queen beds, a small table, and a desk as well as a sizeable bathroom. The 4 of us slept there very comfortably.
The hotel has two swimming pools, including one large play pool with a water slide and volleyball net. The two kids (3 and 4) spent hours there. We also used the "Camp Hyatt" child care service one day and it was excellent. On Saturday night, they showed a movie out by the main swimming pool and we dangled our feet in the water, ate dinner, and sipped margaritas. It was wonderful.
I loved having this quiet oasis as a "home base" - we would spend mornings in the pool, then nap and read, and then venture out to the Strip for a few hours in the evening. After a few hours on the Strip I was so happy to get back to the tranquility of our lovely hotel.
The only down side was the heat wave while we were there - temperatures got above 120 degrees. Of course, rates were very cheap because few others are crazy enough to go to Las Vegas in July! The pool and air conditioned lobbies and reading areas were a lifesaver.
