Wonderful introduction to Montana A review of Resort at Paws Up
My fiance and I stayed for a week at Paws Up in August. The was our first time to Montana and we look forward to returning. We spent the first part of the week in a wonderfully comfortable Meadow Home and the last three nights in Tent City which we found super-relaxing. While Paws Up does have a few things that need finishing, this did not bother us at all. The activities were excellent (and we tried most of them!) and the staff were always helpful and really made our stay. The restaurant food was average for dinner, but the lunches, breakfasts and BBQs were excellent. While Tent City is not quite finished (it looks like they will be hiding the outside of the RVs that are used for bathrooms), the guest tents are all in the trees and overlooking the meadow that runs down to the Blackfoot and so very peaceful in that respect. We enjoyed being so close to the wildlife - lots of eagles and coyotes at night for instance. If you can brave the cold ask to be shown the spot that is safe for swimming in the river. We asked to stop somewhere to buy beer and wine on the drive to the ranch and were taken to a fantastic deli/liquor store (Wardens maybe?) in Missoula. The selection was excellent. If you like brown ale try the Big Sky Brewery Moose Drool. Our Meadow Home had a kitchen so pick up some food if you want to cater for yourself sometimes.
