Wonderful Experience A review of Jewel of the Canyons Bed and Breakfast
We decided to check out Canon City as a possible retirement area and stayed at the Jewel for three nights. I should preface this review by stating that we are not huge B&B fans due to the fact that even if the home/inn is physically appealing, the proprietor can alwys be odd or even unpleasant making for an uncomfortable stay. However, this is certainly not the case at the Jewel. The owners Lyn and Wendy, a young couple, are very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Wendy is an excellent cook (best French Toast we've ever had) and Lyn is more the public face since Wendy spends a good deal of time in the kitchen. The room we stayed in was a good size and nicely decorated. If we were forced to say something negative about the Jewel, it would be that as it is located on a corner, you do hear a bit of street noise in the early morning that perhaps might awaken a light sleeper, but that's being very picky. In the end, we came to Canon City to have a look at the area and then some land and ending up buying there. We both feel that part of the reason was the friendly comfortable feeling we enjoyed while staying at the Jewel. Go there!
