Will be great in a year or so! A review of Trident Hotel
Despite being located directly overlooking the marina in Kinsale, the Trident Hotel is not exactly aesthetically pleasing; half of the hotel consists of a ugly 1970's-looking wing which is quite obviously under renovation. Our room was depressingly old-fashioned and shabby, and overlooked a mound of construction rubble (although the sea was visible out of the corner of one's eye!). It was definitely not up to the standard of a typical three-star hotel, and bore no resemblance to the rooms displayed on the official website. Even though we did not see any of the other "standard" rooms, the decor of this part of the building did not inspire much confidence! Accordingly, we decided to pay an extra 120 euro to be upgraded to an executive room. (The staff were quite accommodating with regard to our request). Thankfully, our new room was extremely spacious and modern, and boasted a wonderful view of the marina.
Thus, unless you are willing to pay executive rates (roughly 720 euro for three nights), I would recommend avoiding this hotel until renovation work has been completed.
