What a Place to Relax In! A review of The Tamarind Club
I was in dire need of some peace and quiet and I found the Tamarind Club perfect. I know the area's well known as a sailing mecca with the related activities--plus all the surrounding islands have places to shop and see--but I was content to; go for long walks on the gorgeous nearby beach, read my books seated in the casual main area surrounded by the dining room, bar and pool, swim in the pool and chat with the friendly staff and guests from all over the world.
All of the tropical lush plants and flowers on the property created a natural setting it was hard to stay uptight in. I even saw tiny hummingbirds on several occasions. The atmosphere was casual and informal and the owners and staff made sure everybody felt very welcome. One night each week they have a dance with live music and I enjoyed joining in.
Even the meals were relaxing. I took mine in the more casual side main area--there is a more formal side on the other side of a pool containing plants and a property pet "Myrtle the Turtle". My first night I had the rack of lamb and it was as tender and tasty as it was beautiful to look at. I enjoyed the luxury of a lobster another night and it was luscious and succulent. With other meals I had I loved the homemade fries they served: I couldn't seem to get enough of them. Occasionally I travelled out to other wonderful restaurants there on the island. If I needed an ice cream or a trip to the bookstore, I could get Ritzell, the cab man, to take me to town nearby. Everything was easy at The Tamarind Club. I highly recommend it.
