What a great visit! A review of Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel
My husband and I stayed here two separate nights over the Thanksgiving weekend this year, 11/26 and 11/29. I must say...what a great hotel! I moved away from Sacramento in 1998 before this hotel and the new Embassy Suites were built and I have to say that Sacramento has definitely taken a step in the right direction when it comes to downtown accommodations. Previously, you were stuck with the Hyatt unless you wanted to travel up towards Arden Fair Mall (and even then the Hilton and Doubletree are average at best) or stay in one of the older, more neutral motels downtown. Valet parking was very easy and check-in was also painless although, both nights it seemed as though the front desk people (different people each night) were rehearsing a pre-written speech...it didn't feel very personal, you know? The rooms were wonderful...the bed reminded me of that whole "Heavenly Bed" thing at Westin...comfy! The furnishings were nice and the window seat is a nice, homey touch. We were on the 20th floor facing west the first night and the 19th the second night, facing south. Our first night we ordered room service since it was 9 p.m., we were still on TX time and were starved. The food was delivered quickly and the server had a smile on his face. All in all, this was a great trip! We may try the Embassy Suites next time but this hotel is definitely at the top of our list when staying in Sacramento.
