What a great place! A review of Miami River Inn
The Miami River Inn is an oasis in the middle of the metropolis. If you are looking for 1)a historic Victorian inn 2)a inexpensive and safe place to stay or 3)a suprising hideaway in the middle of Miami this is the place for you. Yes, it is a bit difficult to find but the search is worthwhile. Our room on the second floor of the main building (Flagler, I think) was beautiful; hardwood floors, antique dresser and raised bed and nicely decorated (although we aren't really into that). The bathroom was huge and the shower was great. Yes, the bed was a bit hard and the pillows a bit flat but the service was very friendly and helpful, the free breakfast was nice and the grounds were gorgeous. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and will reccomend this to others as a safe (the entire property is gated including the parking lot) and comfortable place to stay in Miami. Oh, also, it is easy to leave your car there and walk to public transportation so you don't have to drive in the city. We took the public free bus/train thing that rides on tracks above the city downtown to the Mardi Gras celebration and then caught a train to Coconut Grove to take in the nightlife there. All safe and sound.
