What a Dump! A review of Glacier Park Lodge
If you have never visited a national park lodge such as the ones located in Yosemite or Yellowstone, you might be in awe of the one in East Glacier, Montana. Huge, several feet in diameter whole pine logs supporting the floors of this early 1900's building make for an incredible sight. Maybe so...but this place is a DUMP!
Shame on the National Park service for perpetrating this fraud on the general public!
The food is fair at best and the servers are the typical college kids trying to make some money during the season.
I had the 2-room suite that was suppose to be the best room in the place. What a farce! A sofa bed(I think), 2 end tables, a chest of draws, a table with four chairs and a bath were in the front room. A king size bed (without a mattress) and chest of draws along with a bath were in the bedroom, all this for $299 per night plus the Blackfoot Indian tax and other fees and taxes. The bathrooms are so small that a man my size (6'2 - 250lbs) has to use the shower sideways. The rooms were literally worn out! However, the real kicker is that no where on the website or the brochures of the company that manages this place is the disclosure of the fact that there are railroad tracks that run a couple of hundred yards in front of this place with freight trains...some a hundred cars long...hauling about every hour or so up and down the tracks, day and night! This will keep you awake. After two sleepless nights, my wife and I checked out. Oh, did I mention that they charge you $30 extra for checking out early?
Again, shame on the National Park service for perpetrating this fraud on the general public!
