Well-situated A review of Marriott New York at the Brooklyn Bridge
Stayed for three weekend nights in July 2003. The hotel is the only (literally, only) full service place to stay in this area (Brooklyn Heights). I booked this property because of its proximity to a friend's co-op. The hotel had all the trappings that give a business class hotel of this level (Hilton, Marriot, etc.) its name. On the other, more personal, less objective hand, I feel for a rate of something like $250 (weekend) or $350 (rack), one might expect something more than standard amenities, no view to speak of, lackluster dining / lounging options, etc. The good points include proximity to (walking to and on) the Brooklyn Bridge, convenient subway access to Manhattan across the street and access to the numerous businesses in the area. All in all, a business class hotel charging (almost) luxury rates (see above about the lack of competition). Unless your friends (or business associates) are nearby, stay in Manhattan.
