Weekend getaway A review of Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel

My stay was from 8/18/03 to 8/20/03. Overall great experience for $266.00 hotel/air package deal. don't need car rental. everything is within walking distance or water taxi if you plan on relaxing and not alot of sightseeing, although near the Clipper is glass bottom boats, deep sea fishing and casino cruises. Water taxis have specials to miami on weekends. I did find $5.00 for a beach rental chair and $15.00 for umbrella per day a bit much so bring a beach towel. Did not try the restaraunts inside except the 24 hr deli which was ok for the quick bagel and coffee for breakfast. I was in the South Tower overlooking the ocean, which let me clarify that this is the name of the main bldg and you do not have to leave the bldg and walk to corner of bldg and go through the steak house restaraunt to get to South Tower as i was told by the young lady who checked me in. I think some retraining in room locations to staff is necessary. maybe she though i looked hungry. Room phones did not work with mci calling card, had to use pay phone in lobby. Rooms very clean and spacious. Clipper does have many extras; shuttle bus to Sawgrass Mills Mall for $20.00 per person round trip, $15.00 flat fee for shuttle to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport. If you have any questions ask the Concierge, I found them very helpful.

Would consider extending my vacation for a longer period of time at the Yankee Clipper.
