We got our money's worth A review of Eurostars Grand Place
I booked this hotel because of the pretty good reviews on the internet plus I found a site that gave me an excellent deal on our 4 night stay. We arrived very late (past midnight) in Brussels as our flight from Portugal was delayed twice. As our taxi approached the hotel, I noticed the hotel's neighborhood was a bit shabbier than I expected. We entered the hotel and I was disappointed to find that the lobby was dingy and just plain unattractive. The only thing that kept us from leaving was the fact that all Brussels hotels were fully booked that weekend due to several conferences. I was pleasantly surprised when we got to our room though -- it was sleek, modern and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a quiet night's rest and got up in time for the delicious breakfast. In the daytime, the hotel's neighborhood is actually quite interesting with lots of little shops and great places to eat. There's also an internet place right across the street in the sketchily called "Biker Video" video store (opens at noon). The Grand Place, the Chocolate Museum and other sights plus the 2 train stations (Central and Midi) are all within short walking distance. The hotel staff also has to be commended for always being cheerful and very helpful. My only complaints are really the general upkeep of the rest of the hotel (the lobby, hallways and elevator), the size of the rooms (on the small side) and the overactive heater (all the guests we were with complained about the sauna-like atmosphere in their rooms). All in all, we had a great time and got our money's worth.
