Watch your credit card bill A review of DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Minneapolis
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The rooms are in good condition, and clean. Management and staffing need some improvement. We booked through Expedia and because of that we were told we could only stay on the 2nd floor. On our second night, they had let college kids rent the ballrooms and rest of the 2nd/3rd floor rooms. The noise was unbelievable, and we were amazed that we even had to ask the front desk to move us. Eventually they did move us, and we had a pleasant stay. Don't get the breakfast package... they usually had 1 person waiting on everyone, and she didn't seem happy about anything. Food was hospital quality (ie, it sucked).
So why watch your credit card bill? Two months later, after we've long paid for our trip, here came Doubletree with hundreds and hundreds of dollars charged to our credit card! We called and of course got a clueless person at the front desk who transferred us to the Accounting department's voicemail. Conveniently for them, their accountant is gone for weeks. We called the front desk back to ask for more details on the charges on our card. The clueless staff could only say "Yeah I see the charges, but I have no way to tell what they're for". When asked for his manager, he smartened up to say he was the only one there. Our credit card company has since taken on the case as a disputed charge.
So beware: The hotel is OK. If you're looking for an incompetent hotel staff, OR if you like being surprised with Doubletree charges on your credit card bill, OR if you have very low blood pressure, then this is the place for you... they'll stick to you, sneak into your pocketbook and keep your blood pressure up for a loooong time.
