Waiting in the bar... and waiting... A review of Renaissance Savery Hotel
During the April 17-18 weekend, six of us gathered for a "girls only weekend." We made reservations with no problems several months ahead of time.
Check-in is at 3:00 pm, and we arrived at about 2:45. Our three rooms weren't ready, so the manager invited us to go into the bar for coffee on the house. So we drug our bags in and sat down to wait. And wait. An hour later, someone came and nervously told us that our rooms were still not ready. This time, she told us we had been switched to upgraded rooms, and to order ANY drink on the house. So gin and tonics all around. And we waited. And waited.
Another hour passed. The drinks consumed, we went up to one of the rooms. This room was a beautiful suite with a bedroom, living room, jacuzzi and kitchenette. Immaculately clean. Which it should be, since we waited so long for it. The second room was similarly nice.
We finally got the third room, which was even bigger with a dining room table.
So the upside was the management was very friendly and we got free drinks and upgraded rooms. The downside was having to wait so long after the posted check-in time. If we had had tight schedules, this would have been a big problem. To be fair, I must mention two tour buses of seniors arrived just after we did, so they were extremely busy. But we felt we go bumped way off the priority list because we weren't part of a tour package that the hotel wanted to keep in good standing with.
I would stay there again-- just hope the wait won't be so long next time!
