Very, very disapointed A review of Castlegate Bed & Breakfast Inn
Our service previous to our trip was via email and was pretty good, the clerk answered all of my questions quickly and was very friendly. I was really excited about this trip as it was a surprise for my fiance.
Upon arrival however we obtained our door key (taped to a door at another location as no one was working during that afternoon) and opened our room to find...
- a broken bed (one end was touching the floor)
- really, really dirty carpet (I would not have walked barefoot there) and a very grungy bathroom
-the room did not appear to have been cleaned, it looked like the last person had just pulled the stained comforter up over the bed.
-I had been told that daily maid service during our stay would cost extra but you would expect that the room would be cleaned in between guests (Ewww!)
It was terrible. We are pretty easy going people and would have liked to sort out the problem (like maybe just getting a different room) but it was impossible.
The manager or staff were unavailable and the phone numbers all directed you to an off site answering service that also could not contact staff. We were really stuck, there was noone there to help us out (there was actually noone there period, just us). We had to leave.
It was embarassing to bring my fiance on his surprise wedding present - hockey trip and end up with nowhere to stay in a strange city.
We contacted VISA (because we were concerned about their 2 week notice to cancel a reservation without being charged policy), took pictures (just in case) and left messages with the answering service explaining our problem, returned the key and left.
We dragged our suitcases to the subway and headed downtown to find somewhere else to stay.
I DO NOT reccomend the Castlegate Inn, it was a terrible experience.
