Very slow service. A review of Hilton New York JFK
We checked in about 10pm after being abandoned by delta airlines who arrived late due to fog causing us to miss a connection. We checked in quickly and the receptionist even gave us free vouchers for breakfast the next morning. The room was clean and comfortable but the airconditioning was quite noisy. We ordered a meal for two adults and two children at 11pm , one garden salad with no cucumber and lots of tomato, one steak, one kiddies plain pasta with no sauce and a childs portion of calamari as we were informed that the normal portion was huge. This was a massive problem for the waiter who was not sure if that was allowed. He had to consult with the head waitress who eventually arrived. Finally the restaurant manager also, turned up at a later time, had to be consulted with the result that by 11.55 our food still had not arrived. They couldn't make a decision about allowing a half portion but wouldn't feed the rest of us until they had sorted it out!! At 12.05 the food arrived with lots of cucumber and no tomato on my salad in spite of my order and to crown it all they charged a compulsory 15% service charge! Everyone who arrived after us had eaten and left before we got our food. The accommodation was fine but eat elsewhere. There were flies all over the pastries in the breakfast buffet and the branflakes were stale. The rest of the food looked lovely.
