Very pleasant! A review of Hotel Cataratas
Stayed here between 2nd January 2006 and 5th January 2006.
Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cataratas, although not 5 star (probably 4 stars is more appropriate).
Great location - the falls are only a 10 minute bus ride away and bus stops outside the hotel. Although there are other hotels closer to the falls, this hotel is also handy for visting the local town of Puerto Iguazu, and is also very close to the bridge that takes you into Brazil.
Large bedroom with a nice view of the pool (see photo).
Included breakfast was good, and the hotel restaurants generally served good food. Excellent poolside service of food and drinks.
Nice to have entertainment every evening at the poolside, as there is little to do in the evenings in the town.
Ok, so onto the problems we experienced: -
1. We were at first a little concerned about hotel security because the window in our bedroom would not lock. But we didn't have anything to worry about.
2. Only small towels were provided in the bathroom, and would have expected some large bath towels in a five star hotel.
3. Arrived back at the hotel on our first evening to find that we had no lights or electricity! Went down to reception who just flicked a switch. For some reason, somebody had turned off the supply to our room during the day!?
4. Arrived back at the hotel on our second evening to find that the air conditioning would not work. Again, problem was rectified at reception by flicking the relevant switch back on! Still can not understand why they had this fixation for switching the supplies to our room off during the daytime!?
Overall, you could do a lot worse than stay here, and we will probably chose this hotel again.
