Very Nice Property A review of The Fairmont Dallas

In General this is a pricey but nice property .

The Good: The room was very large and well appointed. It was spotless and cleaned almost immediately upon my departure in the morning. I was on the 10th floor and had a small walk in closet, a safe, work deak and king size bed. The room service was very prompt and very well presented. The staff is very attentive just plain nice. The "health club" (lower level) is a good size- but offers only equipment ( no lockers, sauna , etc). There is a YMCA across the street- but it looked pretty beat up. The hotel has only an outdoor pool. Every meal I had at the hotel was very good and well presented.

The not so good: There is nothing - I repeat literally nothing to do in the immediate area, in the evening. I walked for 4 blocks in every direction in an attempt to find a restaurant or a bar or something!! . Other than a Subway sandwich shop that was in the process of closing- there was literally nothing else. I ended up back at the hotel where the selection is one restaurant and one lobby bar. ( note this was at 7:30 PM) . In addition the neighborhood gets a bit rough at night. If you are there for a few days - plan a cab for dinners. The price was OK ( 170.00) but expect numerous additions ( parking 18.00, charge for local calls (0.60), tips to the valet, 15.00 a night for high speed internet, 2.50 for a cup of coffee in the morning) .

Overall : A great business hotel- Consider better value hotels and locations for leisure travel.
