Very Nice Hotel A review of Wyndham Boston Chelsea
We arrived by car in Chelsea, following our directions from Mapquest. Mapquest did a great job for our five state tour, except for the directions to the hotel. We saw the Wyndham form the highway, but the next exit was further up the road. We eventually found the hotel, but my advice would be to get directions from the hotel staff to avoid driving all over Chelsea.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly people at the front desk. Our rooms were not ready, so we went to the restaurant in the hotel for lunch. I think the person who was waiting on us was the manager of the bar/restaurant. She was absolutely wonderful. Very cheerful and helpful - the food was pretty good, too. We were pleasantly surprised by all the helpful people in Boston.
Even though Chelsea is only three miles form Boston, I would not recommend walking through Chelsea. The hotel provides a shuttle to the 'T' (subway) station at the airport. From there, you can efficiently navigate Boston. When we asked how often the shuttle runs, they told us to call when we needed to be picked up from the 'T' when returning to the hotel from Boston, and it would about 15-20 minutes. On our first return, the shuttle was there before we had a chance to call. Another couple had called an hour earlier were waiting all that time. The next evening when were returning, we called and had to wait an hour. From what I can tell, the Wyndham Chelsea has a contract with the Airlines to pickup the pilots and has them stay at the hotel for layovers. The shuttle drivers know which flights arrive when and then wait for the pilots. I think that the airlines get preference to other hotel guests, hence, the wait.
The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The bathrooms were relatively large compared to the other hotels we stayed at, so we were very pleased. The Wyndham Chelsea has a great pool and spa, too.
All in all, we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel.
