Very nice hotel at a great price A review of Maui Coast Hotel
My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Maui. We chose the Maui Coast Hotel over the OutRigger Wailea or a few other Kaanapali hotels - we wanted to spend the saved dollars (in this case, over 1000) on nice restaurants and extra tours. We didn't regret our decision.
The hotel is very modern and was recently remodeled. We visited many so-called 4+ Star hotels and the Maui Coast was much better. The only potential downside is the Kihei location. For us it was perfect b/c we hit the beaches so often and it is also close to Ma'alea (where most tours launch from). However, if you plan to go out every night in Lahaina, it is at least a 40 minute drive. It doesn't seem that bad unless you've been snorkeling or touring all day long.
However, the beaches are better in South Maui (Kihei, Wailea, and Makena). The weather seemed better as well.
Getting back to the hotel itself, we had a suite - which is well worth it b/c of the jacuzzi bathtub. If that's too much work, the hotel has a good pool and 2 jacuzzis.
Again, it is a very modern hotel (many, many hotels in Maui are dated - even the fancy ones) with great service.
One side note - the restaurant Jameson's has HORRIBLE service. That's for both the restaurant itself and room-service. Oh well.
