Very nice, but a few observations... A review of Eau Palm Beach
Just returned from the Palm Beach Ritz this week. We stayed a couple of years ago in the Ritz in St.Thomas so I set my standards pretty high.
Well....Its nice, but is getting to that age of needing some work.
Sitting right on the Ocean does take a toll on anything but...the Ritz doesn't charge what a Comfort Inn does if you get my drift. We stayed in the center tower on the fifth floor. The room was nice but I was surprised how the furniture was a bit on the beat-up side--drink rings, somewhat scarred up. The bathroom is fantastic,a shower on one side,tub/shower on the other, plenty of marble as usual--and there are those bath robes! If you've stayed at a Ritz you'll know what I'm talking about. The balcony's are nice(everyone gets one, or the bottom floor is a walk out) and have a table and a couple of chairs,we had a great view of the pool area. Looking around on the outside the place needs a paint job and some of the plaster is actually missing on the north tower, east end. The thing I REALLY couldn't believe is the badly rusted ceiling fans on the outside deck/dining area. Those could be changed out in a morning for not much more than the rate on one room per day! One thing to check is if your room is going to be in the north tower/ west end you'll likely only have a view of a parking lot to the north of the Ritz--you might want to check on a different room. The breakfast buffet is first rate, as was in St.Thomas. The pool area is nice but again is showing some age,the pool is actually missing a few tiles here and there. The staff is great, very, very nice. Man,the valet who helped check us in actually remembered our name when we were leaving three days later--I was impressed. All in all its still a very, very beautiful place to stay,I just think that it is in need of some work to stay at the ultra high standards of a Ritz-Carlton. Would I go back? Yep,in a heartbeat......
