Very Happy with Skytop A review of Skytop Lodge
After doing research on the web for a family friendly resort located in driving distance from NYC, the name Skytop Lodge kept coming up so we took a 3 night trip there earlier this week. A tip that I read is to call the resort directly for special rates, and it is true. I got a rate of $325.00/night from Mon-Weds by calling directly to the hotel, the rates shown on the web were higher. The nightly rate includes 3 meals per day. There is an extra per night charge for children, and you will be charged a 15% service fee per night for all service tips. You are also automatically charged a 15% service fee on all beverage services, wine, etc.
It was my husband, myself and my 1 year old son. Due I assume to the fact that this is a very slow time of year and we went mid week, we were upgraded to a "King Mini Suite" category of room. This room was very spacious and included a king size bed, along with a sitting area with couch, cocktail table, etc. All in all, plenty of room for the 3 of us and all my sons stuff, including a portable crib *supplied by Skytop upon request* and my son's pack and play playpen. The room decor was charming, slightly worn in some ways but very clean and like I said, had a charming feel to it. We were very happy with the room.
We also were very happy with the food, it was plentiful and all in all, very good. The servers in the dining room (you get an assigned table) were very nice and efficient, and were just terrific with my son. I can't say enough good things about them - actually we found all of the staff to be very nice.
I would have to say that we were very happy and would go back again, would love to go in the summer when you can really explore the 5,000+ acres. The grounds are just fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this resort for families. There is alot to do.
