Very Disappointed A review of The Sands Resort
I love to camp. I don't require a lot to be comfortable. However, when I pay good money for something I expect comensurate quality. Our single room was in a sad state of disrepair. It needed some serious TLC. Two words come to mind, old and used. While I'm sure the room was clean, the carpet was old and worn to the point of being thread bare in places. The ceiling and stone work of the fireplace was stained black from patrons repeatedly forgetting to open the damper. The linoleum on the kitchen and bathroom floors was gouged and peeling. Algae was growing on the balcony chairs and landing. The coffee machine plug sparked when we turned on the kitchen light. We unplugged it and went to the hotel next door for coffee. It was a rainy weekend but the room did keep us dry. But for the price we paid, we could have gotten a well equiped room at a more modern hotel in which to spend our 20th anniversary. I suggest looking elsewhere.
