Very Disappointed A review of SeaVenture Hotel

The hotel pictures on the website mis-represent the actual rooms. The room was much smaller and run down. Several items within the room were falling apart. We guarenteed our room with a credit card 7 weeks in advance. We were told we were getting a rolling hills view with 2 double beds. Instead, we were given the handicap room with 1 double bed, and run down shacks for our view. The hotel's special offer of "pre-paying $40 for dinner up front to save $10 off your meal was very mis-leading. What we WEREN'T told was that the restaurant was only offering a restricted menu for that evening and that we would be forced to pay for dessert even though we didn't want it. The tip was also automatically charged at 15% to your bill. The meal ended up costing us $148 for 2 dinners only. We didn't even order drinks! The meal was average but not worth anywhere near this cost. The Jacuzzi kept turning on automatically at night which was irritating and very noisy. The walls in this hotel don't lend to a quiet evening either. You hear other people talking in the rooms and it sounded like someone was moving furniture above us the entire time we stayed there. There is only 1 very small elevator for all 50 rooms. To top off our bad experience, my Valentine's gift was in a bag in my room. The maid took the bag from my room when she cleaned it. When I called the front desk the hotel didn't even offer to pay for my loss. AND, the manager never contacted us directly to correct any of the above issues. There were a few good perks. The hotel left a card, 1 truffle, a small Teddy Bear, and 1 long-stem rose in our room after the maid cleaned Valentine's morning. The restaurant also gave each woman a long-stem rose when you entered for dinner. There are free coffee and the local newspapers in the lobby. The beach is just outside the lobby door. AND, the gas fireplace in the room was a very nice touch.
