Very convenient, otherwise average A review of Four Points By Sheraton Bwi Airport

I stayed here last night, coming from a business meeting and needing to catch an early morning flight at BWI. There is no doubt this hotel is convenient to the airport, almost within walking distance (0.8 miles, but not safe to walk) and a quick 3 minute shuttle ride provided by the hotel. Parking is free. The property is a two story, typical airport hotel as they built them back in the 60s or 70s, not todays highrise.

The hotel blurb refers to refurbished rooms, but it's been awhile. The entire property is very clean, albeit everything is showing a bit of age. Bathrooms had marble counters and furnishings are standard business hotel, although again showing some age. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant on site was surprisingly good: single lump crabcake with starch, veggies, bread and a dinner salad (iceberg lettuce, but heirloom yellow tomatoes) for $15.95, although the friendly waiter didn't know Zinfandel was a red wine and brought me an apple tart, while describing it as peach cobbler. The AARP rate of $99 per night is a very good value; if you pay rack rate, it's way overpriced. For business travelers needing to get to or from the airport, this is quite good (although the Marriott Hotel, Marriott Courtyard, and several others are probably a bit nicer if the rates are equal). For families or for more than a quick overnight stay, go downtown and enjoy the harbor.
