Valet damaged my car A review of Doubletree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay

I stayed at the Biscayne Bay Grand Hotel during the 2005 Miami Boat Show.

Since I have family in Miami, I visited them before going to the hotel and borrowed my fathers car. I used the valet upon check in. For the next four days I never took the car out. Upon checking out, now in a hurry to take an associate of mine to the the airport, the valet brings the car out.

He pulls up in front of us and a big fat dent and white scuff mark stares at me from the front fender. I notice this immediately, having washed the car myself before taking it to the hotel. Did I mention it is a Porsche? Not that it wouldn't be bad on an car, but the car's no beater.

I freaked out. There was no valet manager available, no hotel manager available, no assistant manager available to talk to. Sorry to say, but in Miami you're lucky to have someone who speaks English. I had a basic accident report given to me and now we really we had to go to the airport.

I called the manager of the valet service, Paradise Parking's Juan Vargas, the next morning. I drove back to the hotel from South Miami so he could see the car. Mr.Vargas told me to go to the Espana repair shop near Calle Ocho and get an estimate. When the estimate was done I faxed it to him, now from my home in Annapolis, Marylandcalling to confirm he said "we will take care of the bill". When the car was finally repaired (my poor father had the hassle to taking to get fixed get a ride, etc.) Espana said they counld release it without payment from Paradise Parking.

Here comes the fun! I called Juan Vargas again who said he didn't have the authorization for payement..bla bla bla. Let's just say that I called Mr.Vargas every other day for two weeks and got nothing but excuses. To say the truth is that he was blowing me off. Mr.Vargas actually told me that "You know this is a real inconvenience for me" , Oh, sorry Juan, too bad I couldn't damage your father's car so it would be my inconvenience!

Four months later, the car is now repaired at my own cost. And the hotel and Paradise have done nothing. Valet at your own risk.
