Unpretentious, great location, no bad views A review of Shem Creek Inn
We were offered Shem Creek Inn as part of a Site 59 package, and were happy with the result. Shem Creek isn?t a fancy place to stay, but it?s clean, easy-going, quiet, ten minutes? drive from both Charleston and Sullivan?s Island, and the towels are fine. Cold breakfast is what you?d expect, but having it at the pool on the creek is a good start to the day. We liked the marsh view, too, as we enjoy seeing tide action and birds. Marsh side is quieter (no pool or boat parties) and less expensive than creek side. All rooms have private balcony.Liked the biz-card-to-luggage-tag service, ask for a hair dryer when you check in. Staff easygoing, gave helpful answers. Luggage carts on ground floor in garage. For those who don?t do steps, elevator to office is there also. Shem?s Creek Bar and Grill (not connected, I think), ? mile across the road and creek (parking precious, consider walking), is great atmosphere, food, really reasonable, get the oysters, crabcakes, orangeade. Sunset cocktails at Vickery?s outdoor bar (heated in cool weather) can?t be beat ? spectacular views and bartenders.
