Unique Decor A review of Hotel Indigo Atlanta
Other reviews are right on target... unique decor, visually pleasing colors and murals on the walls, soothing music from a CD called "With Indigo in Mind" (really) when you first enter the room... definitely not your run of the mill chain hotel. I was just in town for one day, and found this hotel a pleasant diversion from the ordinary... and at a decent rate.
A couple of things not mentioned in the other reviews... the hotel does accept pets, and I did see one dog in the lobby (with owner), but I didn't ask how he liked his room. The hotel is an easy walk from the North Avenue MARTA station - maybe two blocks max - which is a definite plus for business travelers who are flying in and don't want to fool with a car. I see from the other reviews that the lack of parking makes this even more of a plus. There is a decent Caribbean restaurant right next store - fine for a cold beer and a moderately priced meal.
I'm told that hotels can fill up quickly in downtown Atlanta when there are large conventions in town. This hotel had rooms available during one of those busy weeks in July, so it may be a good fallback to try when others are booked.
As with other reviewers, I thought the rooms were small - OK for me, but not for more than one person. I struggled a bit finding an out of the way place to put my suitcase. The bathrooms were incredibly small, as described in depth by other reviewers... very cramped and about four inches worth of counter space. I also woke up late at night to the sounds of trashmen (?) behind the hotel.
Nice place to stay for one or two nights... worth experiencing the unique decor.
