Unexpected Lavish Value A review of Omni William Penn Hotel
I am glad I read another review and joined the Omni Select Guest Program. The program is free and neted me a $350.00/ night junior suitefor $79.00/night. Upon joining you have the ability to choose your pillow type, where you want your room to be ie: high/low/ quiet etc.
The request are entered into the Omni data base and at express check my requests were granted.
Omni had a buy one night for $159.00 and get the second night free. I did this twice neting a $79.50/ night standard room. A week after I registered for the Omni Select Guest Program, I received a 2 coupons for free room upgrade for 2 stays.
For a very upscale hotel there were a few quirks.
1- When I pulled up to the front door the door man did not offer to take our luggage.
2- The express express check in had us noted for the King room I requested and the front desk clerk assured me it was a suite but when we got to the room it was not a junior suite, but a small (by this hotel's standards) King Room. I called the front desk and they said they made a mistake and sent someone with keys for a suite on the 15th floor. The suite was a large L shapped corner room, well appointed and decorated with faux antiques. It faced Mellon Park. Ask for a room on the park side. It was great for viewing the extraordinary Pittsburgh architecture. The refrigerator was on the floor oposite the alcove bar which housed the coffee maker. It was not on. It had been plugged into a dead outlet. I picked it up and put it on the counter, plugged it in and it worked great. Just seemed strange when most of the hotel is meticulously detailed.
