Understaffed for 4th of July weekend A review of Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Charlotte Airport
This was my first time staying at this hotel during the 4th of July weekend.
On the positive side, the courtesy shuttle service, the drivers, the pool area and the room were fine.
On the negative side was the hotel's only eating establishment, The Wyndham Garden Cafe.
Its been a long time since I witnessed such a disorganized and unprofessional resturant atmosphere. The chef along with the host had to take orders along with the only waiter working. Most of the items on the menu were not available to order and of course the service was extremely slow, rude and disorganized.
There definately was not enough staff to handle everything. The front desk had only one person most of the time. There was no travel information or travel guides posted nor was there a concierge to give guests any information and so the one person at the front desk would get annoyed if you asked them for directions or any information. One of the maids not only cleaned rooms, but she helped at the front desk and drove the courtesy shuttle too. Since the staff was obviously over worked, they were not the most polite people with the exception of the shuttle drivers. I don't know if it was a holiday weekend and people called off at the last minute or if this was business as usual at this hotel, but it didn't make for a very nice stay.
This hotel is okay if you are very familiar with Charlotte, need to be near the airport, and can drive to the nearest eating establishments since the hotel's resturant is so horrible.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and the next time I'm in Charlotte I'll be staying somewhere else.
