Under heavy renovation A review of The Fairmont Dallas
I'm sure that this will once again be a good hotel. Just not quite yet. This property is under HEAVY renovation. Intense and noisy drilling begins daily at 7:30. The spectacular pool deck is closed and guests are invited to swim across the street at the YMCA. I visited in June and this may have changed a little, but there is so much to do. Elevators were out of order and a 10-minute wait was not unusual. Call and ask directly what to expect.
I booked a king room and got a small room that could only fit a a single full. The conference I attended was oversold and 200 guests were sent by bus to other properties. Bathrooms are dated but the rooms are nicely done. My room was a tiny afterthought sqeezed in a space between two regular sized rooms. All of the balcony railings have been removed and the windows replaced with fixed windows. The food, even for groups was excellent. Despite a handful of shining Fairmont moments, this was a pretty challenging experience.
