Unbeatable value A review of Cambridge Gateway Inn
We have stayed at the Cambridge Gateway twice on visits to our daughter at Harvard. We have found it to be clean, comfortable and very good value for money. On our second visit last year we found that all rooms were now equiped with a refridgerator as well as a hairdryer. We in the UK are not used to such luxuries at an affordable price.
The complimentary breakfast was always very welcome, though it is a shame the pastries and croissants were cold from the 'fridge. The shuttle bus service was very useful on wet days as Alewife T is a good 15 to 20 minute walk away. They also came to pick us up when we arrived, laden with baggage.
Most of the staff could not have been more helpful or obliging, with one exception who is mentioned in another review.
There are a few drawbacks, there is no lift, it is off the beaten track with no restaurant near by other than the bowling place next door which serves pretty revolting burgers and pizzas. One room we had was obviously right next to a water tank as we heard everybody elses' toilet flushing, however we asked to be moved and it was done straight away with much apology for our disturbed night.
All in all we were delighted with the accommodation and level of service and will definately be returning next year for our daughter's Commencement week.
