Ughhh! What a dive! A review of GuestHouse Anchorage Inn
This Days Inn is really a dive. It's one of the 5 worst places I've ever stayed. At $160 a night during peak season, it easily has the worst dollar/quality ratio I've ever seen. The rooms are dingy. The bed is a sling. There's no AC. There are no screens on the windows. The outside rooms suffer from road noise. The courtyard rooms suffer from noise from folks who don't realize that just because it's light out at 2:30am, doesn't mean you can shout to each other. The only nearby restaurant is a Country Kitchen. But, lucky you, there's a porn store just 2 blocks away. At one point, I checked my bags overnight. Upon my return, they informed me that they couldn't get the door open. I couldn't get my bags until the next morning. The morning I left, the deadbolt had broken on someone elses room. They had to climb out the window it order to leave their room. Good thing they were on the courtyard side.
One the positive side, the staff are friendly and the wireless Internet connection is rock solid. (Also, while they say that the Internet access code is good for a 24 hour period, the truth is that they didn't change it the whole week I was there.) There's an OfficeMax next door with cheap film. The shuttle is free. Also, there's an Avis rental car place within walking distance. Taking the hotel shuttle, then picking up a car downtown saves you the airport surcharge.
Bottom line? Unless you need the absolutely cheapest room you can find, don't stay here!
